The Odell Public Library Program Room, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL, is the setting for a presentation by members of Morrison Travel Club (MTC) nicknamed The Three Amigos: Marc Adami, Ned Nesti, Jr. (Co-Director), and Mark Zinnen.
Lightheartedly titled “The Netherlands: You’re Not Much if You’re Not Dutch and Other Interesting Facts and Observations,” their informative talk is Thursday, September 24, 2015, starting at 6:30 p.m.
It will appeal to those who have toured The Netherlands as well as those who have yet to.
From Friday, April 17, through Saturday, April 25, MTC group enjoyed Alkmaar’s Cheese Market; Amsterdam; Delft’s blue and white pottery; The Hague; Haarlem and its Keukenhof Gardens; Leiden; Lisse; Rotterdam; Utrecht; the windmills and fishing village of Zaanse Schans.
While touring Zaanse Schans, the Editor happened upon newlyweds posing for friends. They sat outside the shop where wooden shoes are machined in mere minutes. The groom smiled at none of the picture takers. However, he happily obliged when the Editor asked them to “kiss” for her camera. The Editor made a smooching sound and smiled at the groom. No translation to Dutch was required! Everyone around captured this moment. The photo below highlights windmills at this historic site.
Below is one of Jean Zinnen‘s numerous photos of the Keukenhof Gardens. With such splendor surrounding the grounds, it was impossible to limit the photos taken. One after another tried to capture the incredible beauty and fragrance of that spring day, to relive that experience in the future.
They were artistically interpreted by Trip Co-Director Theresa Brandon. Her finished watercolor has a black background, to emphasize the depth of color MTC members experienced across the flat, blooming Dutch landscape.

The Whiteside Forum is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit community group, which sponsors presentations and discussions of issues of importance and interest to the public.
