The City recently completed some additional striping on [N. High Street. This was to complete a series of bike routes recommended by The Friends of the Parks.
It has been some time since the bike routes were first introduced to the community. For that reason, it may be useful to note that there is a difference between a bike “route,” “path,” and “lane.” Morrison has Bike Routes. Routes serve as suggestions/guidance on how to get to a certain destination. As you can see in Stan Mitick’s email below, the intent is to connect parks and schools.
The Bike Routes are not exclusive to bikers, just as the streets are not exclusive to motorists. It is a shared-use roadway. Unless otherwise posted, cars can be parked in the bike route.
Morrison elected officials along with The Friends of the Parks work together to make Morrison, IL, a bike-friendly community.

Stanley Mitick sent the following email to CA Dykhuizen, Mayor Everett Pannier, and Director of Public Works, Gary Tresenriter on Monday, August 31, 2015. The subject was “Striping and Marking High and Jackson Streets.”
Dear Mayor Pannier, Barry, and Gary,
It was another pleasant surprise last Thursday when I observed the street crew refreshing the striping on N. Jackson [Street] to the end, and then again today when I observed that the Bike Route signs have been posted on the newly-striped High Street.
These remaining items are now done, and I think that the bike route street plan for the City is complete. It accomplishes the intent to have designated bike routes to all of the schools and City parks. The Friends of the Parks are very appreciative of the City’s participation and cooperation in making this happen. The chapter on the issues of High Street is closed.
