Wesley E. Leech, 94, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, August 24, 2015, at Resthave Home in Morrison.
Wes was born June 25, 1921, in Ipswich, SD, to Ward E. and Ethel M. (Gsell) Leech. He was educated in Leech Grade School in Ipswich and the Como and Emerson Grade Schools and attended Sterling High School, in Sterling, IL. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II on Mbanika Island, located in the Solomon Islands of the South Pacific. He married Ruth E. Engelkens on October 10, 1948, in Morrison. She died December 23, 1989. Wes was employed by General Electric in Morrison, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Morrison VFW Post #8281. He enjoyed the challenge of “problem solving” everyday issues and had a lifelong love of horses and dogs. Wes was a kind and gentle man and was loved by many.
Survivors include one daughter, Nadine (Wade) Williams of DeWitt, IA; three grandchildren, Brianna (Justin) Kness, Benjamin Buckhahn; Kaitlin (Jordan) Burke; three great-grandchildren, Callie and Conner Kness, Adrian Burke.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; one daughter, Marsha K. Leech; one son, Kevin W. Leech; twin granddaughters; two brothers, Warren and Elliott Leech.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30a.m., Friday, August 28, 2015, at Morrison United Methodist Church
OFFICIATING: Rev. Ryan Sutton, Pastor, Morrison United Methodist Church
VISITATION: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015, at the Morrison Chapel – Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
INTERMENT: Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
