Hilda Buis-Vandermyde, 97, of Burgess Square Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Westmont, IL, a lifelong resident of Morrison, IL, died Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Burgess Square..
Hilda was born December 13, 1917, in Fulton Township, IL, to Nicholas E. and Helen (Tiesenga) Pell. She was educated in the Center School of rural Whiteside County. On June 15, 1945, she married Jacob H. Buis in Morrison. He died on January 16, 1962. She then married Ben Vandermyde on November 25, 1972, in Morrison. He died October 12, 2000. Hilda was employed by General Electric Co. in Morrison. She was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison, and the church’s Ruth Circle. She was also a member of the Whiteside County Home Extension.
Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte (Ray) Fylstra of Hinsdale, IL; one son, John (Judie) Buis of Flushing, MI; three stepsons, Frank (Doris) Vandermyde, Doug (Clarita) Vandermyde, and Dan (Nancy) Vandermyde, all of Morrison; five grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Fickle of Tustin, CA; one brother, Jim (Pat) Pell of Fulton, IL.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Jacob Buis and Ben Vandermyde; two sisters, Kitty Pell and Rose McGuire; five brothers, Edward, Fred, Russell, Jack and Joe Pell.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00p.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Emmanuel Reformed Church, Morrison, IL
OFFICIATING: Rev. Rich Davis, Pastor of Emmanuel Reformed Church, Morrison, IL
VISITATION: 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
