Machine Quilted:  1. Irene M. Burdick, Rock Falls;  2. Carol Onken, Morrison

At left, Carol Onken, Morrison, combined selvage edges of numerous yard goods and designed a Machine Quilted entry that earned second place. She took fabric that is usually trimmed and discarded, and saw a design possibility. Hundreds of narrow strips were mitered into blocks, adding a level of difficulty to the pattern.  At right, Cheryl Mylin‘s Fused Applique Small/Lap quilt was a first place standout.  It is reversible, with randomly sized patches on the back.
