Russell Garrett Siefken, Sr., 94, of 608 Park Street, Morrison, IL, died Friday, August 14, 2015, at Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison.
Russell was born January 21, 1921, in Round Grove, IL, to Earl and Frances (Reap) Siefken. He was educated in the Morrison grade schools and was a 1938 graduate of Morrison High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. On February 14, 1942, he married Dorothy G. Hiddleson in Morrison. Russell worked at the Morrison Post Office for 32 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church, where he served on various committees and boards. He was a Morrison Alderman of Ward #4 for 36 consecutive years, and he was also a member of the Selective Service Draft Board in Whiteside County. Russell was a 70-year member of Morrison American Legion Post #328. He enjoyed camping at Landuit’s Lake until the flood of 1993. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers Fan.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Russell (Carol) Siefken, Jr., of Sterling, IL, and Steven (Deeny) Siefken of Morrison; three grandchildren, Tara Siefken, Mandy Freeman, Jeff (Melissa) Siefken; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin E. Siefken and his twin, Raymond Siefken.

VISITATION: 9:30 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2015, until the time of the service, at Morrison United Methodist Church, Morrison, IL

INTERMENT: Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL, with Military Funeral Honors
