Relay For Life of Whiteside County fund raising goes on year round as shown here.  The “Barnabas Support Group” team was seen on Saturday morning, August 8, 2015, cooking food at the corner of Lincolnway and Cherry Street in Morrison, IL.  Left-to-right are Judy Holesinger, David Shaver, Barbara Prins, David’s wife Mary, and his sister Bernita.  Not pictured are Marian Dykema, Richard Holesinger, Arlyn and Jane Pessman, and Irv Prins.

The group held a similar cookout on Saturday, August 1, and Gene Ottens attended.  They have supported Relay For Life Whiteside County walking events for 13 years, stated Jane Pessman, and cookout fundraisers for ten.  This was the last such endeavor.

During those years, Pessman said, the Barnabas Support Group always achieved at least Bronze level status–$3000 to $4000–in contributions.  Some years they raised $5000 and entered the Silver level.

This year a total of 27 teams raised funds for the June 2015 Relay For Life of Whiteside County event.  It was held for just six hours, rather than overnight, as in the past.

The date for the 2016 Relay For Life of Whiteside County will be June 11, 2016, at Hinders Field at Rock Falls, IL, High School.
