Doris J. Songer, 81 of Sterling, IL, died Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL.
She was born on May 18, 1934, at Xenia, IL, the daughter of Paul and Mildred (Gabbert) Anderson. On March 8, 1953, she married Charles R. Songer at Xenia. He died on November 27, 1984. Doris was a homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Sterling.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Jesse Ramirez, Morrison, and Amy and Rick Anderson of Medicine Lodge, KS; one son, David Songer of Riverside, CA; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three sisters; Judy Mearns of Flora, IL, Alice Williams, Newton, IL, and Marsha and husband Richard Taylor of Marion, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, and two sisters.
Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church, Sterling, and The Fish Pantry of Sterling and Rock Falls, in care of the funeral home.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2015, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at McDonald Funeral Home, 505 1st Avenue in Sterling, IL.
The funeral will follow at 4:00 p.m., with the Reverend Christina Berry, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Sterling officiating.
Burial will take place at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Xenia, IL, on Saturday, August 8, 2015.
