Whiteside County Fair Secretary Mary Beth Dombroski announced the Fair Office will be open for business prior to the 145th annual Whiteside County Fair, which kicks off Tuesday, August 18, 2015.
The Fair Office is located near the grandstand at the Whiteside County Fairgrounds, in Morrison, IL. It will open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday, August 10, through Friday, August 14. On Saturday, August 15, the hours will be 8:00 a.m. to noon.
During these times, staff will accept hand-delivered entries, process those received by mail, and sell reserved grandstand seating, season tickets, and Mega Passes.
- A Mega Pass can be purchased for $45 Monday, August 10, through Monday, August 17. During the Fair the price is $50, purchased from the Carnival. Passes permit riding all Wilson Family Rides.
- Reserve grandstand seating for Saturday night, August 22, Demolition Derby will go on sale Monday, August 10, at 8:00 a.m. in the Secretary’s Office.
- There are no entry fees for exhibits in the Departments of Agriculture, Floriculture, Horticulture, Textiles, Culinary, and Hobbies. However, adult exhibitors must purchase the $18 Season Membership Ticket. Junior exhibitors under 11 years of age buy a $3 season ticket to enter in junior departments.
Livestock exhibitors are required to pay exhibit fees and should consult the 2015 Fair Book or website for details.
All exhibitors are urged to refer to the Fair Premium Book or website for details on requirements to enter various competitions. This year over $119,000 in premiums, purses, and prizes are offered. The books are available at banks throughout Whiteside County and will be available the week before the fair at the Fair Office. Entries must be done online or in writing, with the applicable fees submitted, by the appropriate deadlines as listed in the Fair Book.
The office will accommodate purchases of Season Membership Tickets, which allows the ticket-holder unlimited admission to the fair. Adult season tickets cost $18; a child’s weekly pass is $3. Tickets for both children and adults may also be purchased at the gate during the fair. Single adult daily admission for the fair is $7–for those 12 years and older–and $1 for children ages 6 through 11. Children five and under enter free.
Reserve grandstand seating for Saturday nights’ Demolition Derby during the week prior to the fair at the office. The price is $5 per person and is sold on a first-come, first-served basis, with limited seats available. Saving seats by using blankets, etc. for general seating is not allowed. Any items used for saving seats will be removed by the Fair Staff.
Bicycle Give Aways will take place during fair week. Times will be posted at the west end of the Blue Building, where children register–one time only–each day.
The fair officially starts at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, with the Western Horse Show, at the “Gold Star F. S. Arena” in the infield.
