The Department of Central Management Services has received notice from The President of the United States of America, that all persons or entities covered by the Illinois Flag Display Act are to fly the flags at half-staff, in honor of four U. S. Marines killed in the Chattanooga, TN, shooting tragedy at the Navy Operational Support Center:
- Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, 40, grew up in Springfield, MA, completed two tours of duty in Iraq and served more than 17 years.
- Sgt. Carson Holmquist, Wisconsin native, was an automotive maintenance technician, with two tours of duty in Afghanistan during his six years.
- Staff Sgt. David Wyatt, of Burke, N.C., a field artillery operations man, had twice deployed to Iraq and once to Afghanistan during his 11 years.
- Lance Cpl. Squire “Skip” Wells, 21 of Marietta, GA, had just completed basic training.
Gary Tresenriter, City of Morrison, IL, Director of Public Services, requested United States and Illinois flags at City owned property to be flown at half-staff from 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, until end of the work day, Friday, July 24, 2015.
