Like the colors of a rainbow, the gardens’ inhabitants burst forth in color….Summer has arrived.  With all the rain we have received, one cannot help but notice the beauty that surrounds us….Passing by the home of Ray Gomez and Chuck Galusha at 603 N. Orange Street, Morrison, IL, one cannot miss the charm and elegance of the gardens that grace their home, in their beautifully landscaped yard.  Morrison Garden Club chose their garden/yard for June’s “Featured Garden.”

Ray and Chuck first took an interest in gardening when they moved into their home in 2002.  The gardens boast 45 varieties of Hostas, several different Coral Bells, Daylilies, Clematis, and other perennials.  Gomez’s favorite Hosta is the stately “Sum and Substance.”  A pond was added in 2008, currently home to one Koi, several Shubunkins, and other fancy goldfish.  He states that they love sitting on the front deck that overlooks their “piece of heaven.”  Plans are to add a small Hosta and Coral Bell bed near the garage in the future.
