Union Pacific Railroad has notified the City of Morrison that the railroad crossings at Jackson, Cherry, Genesee, and Orange Streets will be closed either this Friday, June 12, or Saturday, June 13, 2015, for three days, while UP Railroad replaces the north track.
UP Railroad will have flaggers a day or two before the closing, due to equipment coming and going from the work site. The work train is currently east of Morrison, IL, around Agnew, IL, working at a pace of 1.5 miles a day. However, if the crew encounters delays, the closings in Morrison may be delayed into next week.
- Jackson Street will be closed and repaired first.
- Then Cherry, Genesee, and Orange Street crossings will be closed at the same time. When they are repaired, Heaton Street will be closed.
UP Railroad is working with the Illinois DOT to set up detours on the State routes of IL Route 78 and U. S. Route 30.
