The United Way of Whiteside County “Let’s Feed Our Children” free summer lunch program began on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, in Morrison, IL, at the Crave Building, 201 W. Market Street. Members of Crossroads Church are shown preparing and handing out free lunches. Free lunches are available Monday through Friday, each week of summer vacation in Morrison.
Lunches prepared and served on Monday and Friday are prepared by Morrison United Methodist Church. On the other three days, members of Crossroads Church prepare and serve the brown bag lunches. Peanut butter and jelly sandwich, 100% juice, fruit, and other goodies are included.
In 2015, this program of the United Way of Whiteside County has lunch sites in all the communities in Whiteside County. Last year in the County over 35,000 free lunches were prepared and served by volunteers!
