All members were present at the opening of the Monday, July 27, 2026, City Council meeting, which focused on a presentation of the proposed Waterworks Park Splash Pad Project. A representative of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources updated the Council on the details of the park that would include:
* removal of existing tennis courts
* construct new ‘splash pad’
* parking lot reconstruction
* creation of Prairie Grass Field of natural wildlife and plants.
The Splash Pad Project will carry an estimated price tag of $641,893.72, of which 50% would be funded by a DNR OSLAD Grant Match. Project awards are expected to be announced the first part of 2027, and construction would begin in the Spring of 2027.
The City is working on a Trees Forever grant, that would assist planting additional trees throughout Waterworks Park.

Morrison City Council meetings are held in the Community Room of of Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL, and are open to the public to attend. The next Morrison City Council meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 10.
