Youth looking for a fun way to stay active this summer are invited to participate in the programs described.
Building Bricks Creator Club offers youth an exciting program designed to encourage imagination, problem-solving, and teamwork through brick-building activities. The program will be held August 3, 4, and 5, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The location is the Whiteside County Extension Office, 12923 Lawrence Road (off Highway 30), rural Sterling, IL, 61081. Two age-specific sessions will be offered: Ages 8-12: 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and Ages 5-7: 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Participants will explore design concepts, tackle building challenges, and create unique projects, while developing valuable STEM-related skills, in a fun and engaging environment.
Building Bricks Creator Club provides a welcoming setting where youth can experiment, collaborate with peers, and bring their ideas to life one brick at a time. Activities are designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and confidence, as participants learn through play.
The goal is to gain hands-on experience that promotes innovation and teamwork.

Get Up and Dance is an engaging series designed to introduce youths, ages 7-14, to a variety of movement and dance styles, while building confidence and having fun. Participants will discover different movement styles in a welcoming environment that encourages self-expression, creativity, and physical activity. Whether learning new dance moves, exploring rhythm, or participating in interactive movement activities, they will enjoy an energetic experience that promotes both physical and emotional well-being.
The goal is to improve coordination, build confidence, and connect with others through movement-based activities. It is an excellent introduction to dance and creative movement.
