A large crowd filled the City of Morrison Community Room, in Odell Public Library, to witness the City Council meeting on Monday, July 13, 2026.
The Transportation Enhancement from the City to Morrison Sports Complex is being considered, with three options for the proposed ten-foot-wide asphalt path. City Administrator Brian Melton welcomes any-and-all citizen inputs and concerns, regarding the proposed path to the Sports Complex.
The opening session inviting public comments was filled with:
a) citizens and school supporters offering special appreciation to the Morrison City Council for the $5000 gift. [Editor’s note: For a second year, this “Mustang Challenge” payment helped fund a Sauk Valley Community College Endowment for the tuition-free student Impact Program. The Endowment is sufficiently funded, so future City payments will be unnecessary.]
b) citizens reacting to the Special Use Permit being considered for issue to 5 Star Landscaping, LLC to use land formerly known as Morrison Country Club.
Following presentations of interest and Council discussion, Ordinance 26-13 was passed by a 5-2 vote. It will allow the property located at 903 W. Morris Street to be used for special use.
In additional action:
# by a 7-0 vote, the Council voted to establish a Utility Billing Statement Processing Fee, effective October 1, 2026.
# the Council voted unanimously to accept real estate donated by Cecil J. Stralow and Delores A. Stralow Trust.
# the Council voted unanimously to accept the ENDORSEMENT #102 EQUIPMENT BREAKDOWN COVERAGE policy, extended by Illinois Municipal Association.
# members tabled the discussion related to a Deerview Condominiums Snow Removal Reimbursement request.
Morrison City Council meets in the Community Room at 6:30 p.m., every second and fourth Monday of each month. The public is welcome to attend.
