Extend your appreciation of United States military personnel by attending these 2015 Morrison, IL, Memorial Day events. The general public, guests, and visitors of all ages are welcome at each event.
A Veterans Buffet Luncheon hosted by American Legion Post #328 will be held Saturday, May 23, at 11:00 a.m., at the American Legion Hall, 306 E. Main Street. The $6 charge per person includes tax and tip. Call Legion Commander Dale Usterbowski, 815-772-0153, by Tuesday, May 19, to reserve a place at the buffet table.
The Memorial Day Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 25, starting from E. Main and N. Madison Streets. The procession will travel west on Main Street, turn north on Genesee, and enter Grove Hill Cemetery on High Street. Veterans of any age are invited to ride up the hill on the hayrack provided by Dave Damhoff. It will be staged at Morrison Tire Center, 318 E. Main Street. Meet at the parade site by 10:15.
Memorial Day Services on Monday, May 25, start at 11:00 a.m., at Grove Hill Cemetery on High Street in the Veterans Memorial/Pavilion. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, if desired. Pastor Craig Sipes, Brethren in Christ Church, will deliver the invocation.

Air Force Reserve Major Amy Johannsen will lay the commemorative wreath.
Members of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will offer the traditional rifle salute.
MHS instructors David Bean and Meagan Zahora have prepared band and choral music, respectively, for the occasion. This includes the poignant echo rendition of “Taps” to end the ceremony.
An American Legion Hall Open House follows the Monday, May 25, parade, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at 306 E. Main Street. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Morrison’s Heritage Museum will have a Military Display.
