The Fulton, IL, Police Department announced the results of its Memorial Day 2026 “Click It or Ticket” enforcement campaign. The safety initiative was aimed at increasing seat belt use and keeping roads safe, during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
“Thanks to the efforts of our officers, more drivers and passengers were reminded to buckle up, helping to prevent injuries and save lives,” said Chief Chad Hermes. “Every citation, written warning, and safety check reinforces the message that seat belts work.”
During the campaign, the Fulton Police Department took the following enforcement actions:
• 3 Distracted Driving Citations
• 37 Speeding Citations
• 3 Written Warnings for Seat Belt Violations.
In addition to Officers assigned to the grant-funded enforcement campaign, Fulton Police Department maintained proactive traffic enforcement efforts, through routine patrol operations during the campaign period. Combined enforcement activity by all on-duty personnel resulted in 192 traffic stops, leading to 45 citations, 118 written warnings, one arrest, and 18 other dispositions.
The campaign’s success reflects Law Enforcement’s commitment to roadway safety and reinforces the message that buckling up saves lives.
