Joann Kilgus served as hostess in her home for the P.E.O. Chapter FL meeting on Tuesday, April 7.  Co-hostess Linda Jones served a delicious dessert and refreshments.

Apr7MartinaThe program for the day was “To Seek Growth…Through Healthy Living.” Morrison resident Martina Maxfield, Certified Yoga and Meditation Instructor, gave an informative presentation, telling chapter members to “be your own study.” She explained. “Keep balance between the body and mind through movement, eating healthy foods, drinking water, and getting plenty of rest and fresh air. These things, combined with keeping peace of mind and a spiritual outlook, will help a person do daily tasks with a Glad Heart.”

It is clearly evident that Martina enjoys her job and practices these guidelines in her own life.  She developed her interest in Yoga growing up in southern Germany where the women, including her mother, did yoga as part of their daily life. Martina holds Yoga classes in Morrison.

A meeting was led by President Jean Eggemeyer following the program.

Today, P.E.O. has grown from that tiny membership of seven to almost a quarter of a million members, in chapters in the United States and Canada.

P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College; and motivate women of all ages to achieve their highest aspirations.
