On Wednesday, April 15, 2015, the loveliest day of the year–to date–three local Certified Master Gardeners took to the flower beds, at the corner of U. S. Highway 30 and IL Route 78. They “weeded and cleaned” the curvilinear patches that hug the busy Community State Bank “sandwich corner.”
Shown left-to-right are Diane Garcia, Nancy Anderson, and Cheryl Christianson.
Garcia stated all planting were selected because they will tolerate salt from winter snow removal. Golden daffodils are in bloom. Daylilies, irises, barberry, blue fescue grass, and sedum are preparing to share their splendor.
Coreopsis and asters will appear later in the year.
Annuals will be planted in the three pots in May.
Future evergreen plantings will line the Morrison Community Federal Credit Union. Garcia said rain barrels are used to capture precious water for the garden.
