Dana Nelson, Whiteside County Clerk, announced Wednesday, March 11, 2015, that “grace period registration” for residents who did not register to vote by the Tuesday, March 10, deadline will be available from March 11 through Monday, April 6, for the upcoming Consolidated Election on Tuesday, April 7.
Voters who register during the grace period must register in the office of the County Clerk, 200 E. Knox Street, Morrrison, IL, and must cast their ballot that same day. Those people registering during the grace period cannot vote at their polling place on Election Day.
The registration requirements to be eligible to vote are:
- must be a citizen of the United States
- must be at least 18 years old by Tuesday, April 7, 2015
- must have been a resident of the precinct at least 30 days prior to Election Day.
When registering to vote, two forms of identification are required. One must show the current address of the applicant.
Nelson said individuals may register and vote in person during normal office hours (Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and also on Saturday, April 4, from 9:00 a.m. until noon, at the Clerk’s office at Whiteside County Courthouse, 200 E. Knox Street, Morrison.
