Morrison Lions Club members are taking orders for roses to be delivered on Good Friday, April 18, 2025.  The cost is $20 for a dozen.  We cannot guarantee a certain color, but your request will be honored as closely as possible.  The colors are vivid reds, pinks, mauves, and yellows, as well as other combinations.  The deadline for placing your order is Sunday April 13.  To place your order, please contact any Lions Club member or call Jim Blakemore at 815-631-1781, Darlene Smith at 815-772-2346,  or Ken Jansma at 309-236-8960.  The support from the community for this annual fundraiser is appreciated!  Funds raised support two scholarships to Morrison High School graduates and reimbursement to CGH Medical Center, for eyeglasses they supply to Morrison area students and residents during the year.

Mark the date for the area-wide Morrison Lions Recycle Day.  The event will be held Saturday, April 26, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, at the Whiteside County Fairgrounds, 201 W. Winfield Street, Morrison.  Monetary donations gratefully accepted on-site the day of the event, will support Lions projects; Morrison FFA; Key Club; Scouts; other not-for-profits helping at the event.

Flyers will be soon posted at local businesses, Morrison Lions Foundation Facebook page, and the Club’s website, showing a list of items that will be accepted.  Please note that no TVs or computer monitors will be accepted.  Those can be dropped off any time of year, for free, at the Whiteside County Highway Department located at 18819 E. Lincoln Road (Route 30.)  Help celebrate Earth Day (Monday, April 22,) by recycling at the area-wide Recycle Day event.  This annual service project helps fulfill the Lions Club Motto of “WE SERVE.”

Club meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month, at noon, at Happy Joe’s Pizza, 109 W. Main Street.  Anyone interested in joining Lions is cordially invited to attend any meeting to learn more about what Lions do to uphold our motto of “WE SERVE.”  It is noted that Lions Club is the “best kept secret around.”
