MACF Reimburses Morrison Chamber for Wreaths

Posted by

bridge-wreathDuring the recent holiday season, attractive wreaths decorated both ends of the Whiteside County Covered Bridge.  Rope lighting around openings added charm to the darkness of November and December 2014.

The twin artificial wreaths were

  • purchased by Morrison Chamber of Commerce Board member Stephanie Vavra
  • decorated by Stephanie Mann of Wilson Greenhouses & Florist, 103 N. Heaton Street, Morrison, IL
  • installed by Mt. Pleasant Township Supervisor Kent Shepard and his crew.

Vavra applied for a Morrison Area Community Foundation (MACF) grant to reimburse the Chamber for the costs.  It graciously was approved in December.

On Friday, January 30, 2015, MACF Board member Joe Mills presented a check for $362.16 to Chamber of Commerce President Heather Toppert, left, with Vavra in attendance.

When reinstalled later this year, the wreaths and companion lighting will bring pleasure to those who traverse Rock Creek via the covered bridge.
