The Morrison Board of Education recently hired Dr. Matthew DeBaene as the incoming Superintendent, effective Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
Dr. DeBaene is a Moline, IL, native and attended Western Illinois University, where he earned a degree in English Education. Starting as a 7th grade English teacher in the Davenport school system, he also filled positions as Coach, Athletic Director, and various leadership roles. Upon obtaining his Master’s degree, he became the Assistant Principal of Geneseo High School before becoming the Principal of Geneseo Middle School.
For the past 11 years Dr. DeBeane has been the Assistant Superintendent in the Moline-Coal Valley School District. He predominantly focused on the teaching and learning side of school, although spending time as the head of School Safety, creating a Mentoring Program, and serving as the Secretary of the Board of Education.
Morrison is proud to welcome Matthew DeBeane to the District. We look forward to the leadership he will bring to our community and to the youth of the Morrison area.
