The Symphony and Community State Bank have for several years offered a charter bus from Clinton, IA, through Fulton, and Morrison, IL, to the concert at the Sterling location. In addition to the travel convenience, the bus offers delivery directly to the door of the concert, avoiding location and parking concerns. Reservations are required through hosts Kathy and Dan Anderson at 563-503-4886.

Conductor Brian Dollinger will conduct the Clinton Symphony Orchestra through “Prodigious Discovery” at 7:30 p.m., on Saturday, November 2, 2024. The second concert of the 71st season will take place in Centennial Auditorium in Sterling High School, E. Miller Road at Fourth Avenue, Sterling, IL.
Conductor Brian Dollinger has titled this concert “Prodigious Discovery” in reference an overture by Juan Crisostomo de Arriaga, a young Spanish Basque composer. Arriaga was born in the early 19th Century, and only lived to age 20. His works are just now being re-discovered. He is often referred to as “The Spanish Mozart.”
The program will include
- 1. an Overture by Basque composer Juan Crisotomo de Arriga
- 2. Mendelssohn’s concert overture The Fair Melusine was inspired by European folklore
- 3. young Beethoven’s Second Symphony.
