Gene R. Voss, 85, of Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison.
Gene was born September 25, 1939, in Moline, IL, to Herman J. and Alice (Vos) Voss. He attended Erie Grade Schools and graduated from Erie High School in 1957. During the Vietnam War era, Gene served in the United States Army. On April 28, 1967, he married Beverly Strating in Erie, IL, and they shared their lives for over 46 years, until Beverly’s passing on September 1, 2013. Gene and Beverly co-owned and operated G & B Bio Sales in Fulton, for several years. He worked at Dupont in Clinton, IA, retiring in 1997. Alongside his professional career, Gene was also a dedicated farmer. He was an active member of Spring Valley Reformed Church in Fulton, where he served as a Deacon. He also dedicated time to serve on the Board of Directors for Harbor Crest Nursing Home. Gene enjoyed Bowling and was a proud member of several leagues in Fulton.
Survivors include his daughters, Brenda (Ralph) Liles of Camanche, IA, Marla of WI, and Tricia Voss of DeWitt, IA; two grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Liles; sister, Betty Voss of Morrison; sisters-in-law, Regina (Mark) Besse and Evelyn (Dale)Hanson; brothers-in-law, Neil Decker and Rod Lain; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; sister, Nancy Lain; brother, Allan Voss; sisters-in-law, Ilene Snyder, Betty Nissen, Irma Decker, and Barbara Fetterolf; brothers-in-law, Delbert Nissen, Berkley Fetterolf, Dayle Synder, and L. Dale Hanson.
His Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Spring Valley Reformed Church in Fulton, IL, with Rev. Paul Wissink, Pastor of Spring Valley Reformed Church, officiating.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL.
A memorial has been established to Spring Valley Reformed Church and Resthave Care & Rehabilitation.
