Creating a transition plan to make sure a farm continues as a productive, agricultural business can be challenging. Farm women can have a key role in successful farm transitions. “Managing for Today and Tomorrow,” a new Annie’s Project course for women, will be held at the Whiteside County Extension Office, 100 E Knox Street, Morrison, IL.
Local professionals and Extension staff will teach sessions on business, estate, retirement, and succession planning. Farm women will meet with others who share similar issues and concerns. A small class size will make it comfortable for everyone to speak and have questions answered.
The program will be comprised of three full-day, Wednesday sessions on February 11, 25, and March 25, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with an hour lunch break on your own. Pre-registration is required; the cost is $50. Managing for Today and Tomorrow is divided into the following planning areas:
- Succession Planning – Transferring knowledge, skills, labor, management, control, and ownership between generations
- Business Planning – Developing goals, strategies, and actions that form a road map to business growth
- Estate Planning – Managing an individual’s asset base in ones’ lifetime, at death, or after death
- Retirement Planning – Designing an enjoyable and productive time in life.
