John E. Gaffey, age 97, of Morrison, IL, died Friday, July 5, 2024, at Pleasant View Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Morrison.
John was born September 28, 1926, in Sterling, IL, the son of John and Frances Gaffey. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and later married Evelyn Moorehead on August 24, 1968, in Sterling. She preceded him in death on December 4, 2015. John was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire as a Millwright for many years. He owned and operated Ponderosa RV Storage in Rock Falls, IL, for almost 50 years.
John is survived by his children, Johnny A. (Brenda) Gaffey, Debbie (Mike) Goodman, and Joe (Brenda) Gaffey; nine grandchildren, Johnny V. Gaffey, Shane A. Gaffey, Donna (Tom) Boonstra, Wess (Jodie) Gaffey, Troy (Julie) Gaffey, Jodie Frank, Owen (Erica) Gaffey, Kara (Steven) Guidry, and Kris Gaffey; 20 great-grandchildren, Ashley R. Gaffey, Johnny V. Gaffey, Jr., Hannah R. Gaffey, Jakob S. Gaffey, Connor J. Boonstra, Carly K. Boonstra, Aaliyah T. Gaffey, Alyssa N. Gaffey, Alyvia M. Gaffey, Kayla Gaffey, Gage Gaffey, Hallie Kinion, Taylor Kinion, George (Ashton) Wycoff, Trinity Frank, Cheyene (Anthony) Pickens, Braden Gaffey, Harper Gaffey, Hunter Guidry, and Haley Guidry; one great-great-grandchild, Eastmon Gaffey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, David Gaffey.
A private Graveside service will be held at a later date.
