Santahouse2The Morrison Chamber of Commerce is happy to present the 27th Annual Christmas Walk in downtown Morrison, IL, on Saturday, December 6, 2014.  Celebrate the “12 Days of Christmas” by attending the Live Nativity at 5:45 p.m., Christmas Tree Lighting at 6:00, lighted Parade at 6:30, and Tree Silent Auction from 5:00 to 8:00.  In addition to these events, enjoy dinner at church suppers and free soup from Brethren in Christ Church, free wagon rides down Main Street, strolling carolers, a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, cocktail concoction specials at local pubs and restaurants, extended hours at many downtown businesses, and much more!

Start your holiday shopping by visiting the annual PTO Craft Fair and Bake Sale at Southside School, 100 Academic Drive, on Saturday, December 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Find great gifts from unique local and regional crafters and vendors.

You are invited to an Open House at the newly-opened Gaumer Chiropractic.  Meet the new doctor and enjoy cookies and hot cocoa during the Christmas Walk festivities on December 6, at 6:00 p.m.  Their office is located at 125 E. Main Street in Morrison.

Morrison Lions Club members are selling delicious hams for delivery before Christmas. The hams are fresh, fully cooked, smoked, and boneless.  Approximate sizes are 7-10 and 10-20 pounds.  Christmas orders must be received by Sunday, December 7.  Contact any Lions Club member or call Bob Smith, 815-772-2896; Flora Stralow, 815-772-4874; Jim Blakemore, 815-772-3744; Martha Kophamer, 815-238-7005.  Proceeds from this fundraiser benefit vision, hearing, and community projects.

The Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, will screen the holiday classic “A Christmas Carol” at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9.  In the film, George C. Scott plays Ebenezer Scrooge, an old bitter miser, who makes excuses for his uncaring nature, but learns real compassion through the visitation of three ghosts on Christmas Eve.  Popcorn and drinks will be available.

Windsor Manor Assisted Living and Memory Care, 403 Scenic Street, invites you to ‘”Tour & Take Out” on Tuesday, December 9, and Wednesday, December 10, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.  Come for a tour of Windsor Manor and leave with a home-cooked dinner of baked chicken, fries, coleslaw, rolls, and cookies.  Please RSVP by Friday, December 5.

First Presbyterian Church, 100 E. Lincolnway Road, continues to offer FREE weekly Community Meals.  The final meal of the year will be on Thursday, December 11, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.  All are welcome; the church is handicapped accessible.  In 2015, First Presbyterian is extending the opportunity to host meals to other churches, organizations, and businesses . If your group would like to prepare, serve, and clean up a meal for 70-90 people, contact Pastor Mike Selburg at 815-772-3510.

Morrison Community Hospital, 303 N. Jackson Street, will be holding their annual Donated Treasures/Baked Goods Sale on Friday, December 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  They will have plenty of items to sell, along with delectable baked good.  If anyone would like to donate gently-used items or baked goods, they can be delivered to the hospital on Thursday, December 11.  Proceeds are used to purchase items for the hospital and to provide medical scholarships for Morrison students.
