Bethesda Blaze Earns Award of Excellance

“Bethesda Blaze” Relay for Life Team for the American Cancer Society of Whiteside County was recently awarded the “Award of Excellance” (Lakeshore Division) for raising over $10,000 for the 2014 Whiteside County Relay for Life, held on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Westwood Sports Complex in Sterling, IL.  The current team of nine ladies includes members of Bethesda Lutheran Church, 301 W. South Street, Morrison, IL, as well as several others from the community. 

Blaze was formed over 16 years ago and has been an active participant in the Relay for Life each year.  The team has ranked in the top three teams each year for the past five years.  They placed first for 2014 with a grand total of $12,454.99 being raised

Since it formed, Bethesda Blaze has raised over $99,900 in the fight against cancer.  They held various fundraisers, such as bake sales, pizza and candy bar sales, Scotch Doubles Bowling events, breakfasts at DQ Grill & Chill, motorcycle rides, guest bartending nights, silent auctions and raffles, personal fundraising, and matching funds.

Others are invited to join Bethesda Blaze in their fight against cancer.  Become as involved as you would like; don’t be afraid to commit.  Feel free to ask family and friends–young and old–to join the team.  There is no need to be a Bethesda Lutheran Church members.  The team looks forward to having new members, because together we can make a difference!
