Louis J. DeMay Jr, 77, of Rock Falls, IL, died on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at his home.
Louis was born on September 19, 1946, in Geneseo, IL, the son of Laura and Jay Moldt. Louis proudly served in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He married Janice Kloptowsky on November 21, 1970, in Chicago, IL. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2021. Louis enjoyed the outdoors and motorsports. He also loved spending time with his son and grandson at derbies and races, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include his daughters, Tammy (Robert) Ravel, of Monmouth, IL, and Wendy Hardman (Michael Atkins), of Clarksburg, WV; son, Louis A. DeMay, of Rock Falls; sisters, Marge (Charles) Koehler and Judy Hadaway, of Rock Falls, and Laura (Bob) Stahl, of Bellevue, CO; brothers, Tom (Sue) DeMay, of Morrison, IL, and Pat (Dawn) DeMay, of Lisl, IL; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; beloved dog, “Smokey.”
Louis was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Laura (Jay) Moldt; father; sister, Marilyn Stram; brother-in-law, Terry Hadaway; grandson, Zachery Hardman.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
A Gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Monday, March 11, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, IL, concluded with military honors.
