Council Continues to Search for Genesee Intersection Alternatives

The Monday, October 23, 2023, the Morrison City Council meeting opened with the gavel in the hands of President pro-tempore Vern Tervelt and all other Aldermen in attendance. 

The Consent Agenda listed the recent Mayoral appointments to community service committees:

  • Library Board of Trustees: Jesse Wroble (2026), Nora Wenzel (2026), Christine Vanderlest (2026)
  • Historic Preservation Commission: Dr. John Tomasino (2026), Vacancy (TBD)
  • Planning & Zoning Commission: Sherri Shirk (2028), Devin Kuehl (2028), vacancy (TBD.)

The Council approved action for Ordinance 23-13 which executes an agreement with the Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association, forming a one-year agreement to contribute its contribution within the terms of the RMA Minimum/Maximum Contribution Agreement, beginning January 1, 2024.

Approval was given to execute a previously approved Engineering Agreement Proposal, for the Phase 4 Water System Improvements design, at $132,000.

In closing, City Administrator Brian Melton informed the Council that an Improvement Plan has been initiated for the Genesee Street and Lincolnway Intersection. Developing details will be available at future meetings.

The next Morrison City Council Meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., on Monday, November 13, in the City of Morrison Community Room at Odell Public Library.
