Morrison, IL, City Administrator Brian Melton reported the Local Street Project started today, Monday, September 19, 2023, on South Cherry Street. He supplied photographs of the three sites. This year’s local street project includes S. Cherry Street, N. Jackson Street (RR Tracks to E. Knox Street) and N. Heaton Street (RR Tracks to Lincolnway.)
As part of this project:
a. some curbing and inlets will be repaired
b. intersection sidewalk approaches will be reconstructed
c. the road surface will be milled and overlaid with new asphalt.
Please be aware that there will be temporary and daily road closures throughout portions of these streets, as the project progresses.
The project was awarded to Martin & Company, Oregon, IL. The City of Morrison utilized the engineering services of Willett Hofmann & Associates, Dixon, IL.
The project is being funded by Rebuild Illinois Funds; Motor Fuel Tax Funds; Local 1% Sales Tax Funds at a cost of $379,381.58.
Projected completion date is November 1, 2023.
