Alphonse “Shorty” Segobiano, 81, of Sterling, IL, died on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at his home.
Shorty was born on August 2, 1942, in Silvis, IL, the son of Juan and Maria (Serrano) Segobiano. He was a proud veteran of the U. S. Army. Shorty was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. He enjoyed serving his church by helping with funeral dinners. Shorty loved to play cards and had a great sense of humor.
Survivors include his sister, Virginia (Ramon) Bernal, of Sterling; brothers, Robert Segobiano, of Chicago, IL, and Joseph Gregory Segobiano, of Sterling; niece, Kimberly (Brian) Coss, of Corpus Christi, TX; nephew, Raymond Bernal, of Sterling; great-niece, Haley Bernal, of Morrison, IL; many other nieces and nephews.
Shorty was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Juanita Rodriguez, Margaret Carpio, Nellie Holcomb, and Rose Coss; brothers, Pete and Joseph John Segobiano.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling, IL, with Reverend Carlos Monsalve officiating.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling, IL, with military honors.
