James P. “Fuzz” Furlong (1943 – 2014)

James P. “Fuzz” Furlong, 71, formally of Oswego, IL, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Pleasant View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Morrison, IL.

Jim was born August 8, 1943, and grew up in Clarendon Hills, IL. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and soon-to-be great-grandfather. Jim was a true angler; he loved the outdoors and spending time at his property in Lake Carroll, IL. Prior to marriage, he spent his summers in Canada as a fishing guide at his parents resort. He loved to golf and was an avid sports fan; his favorite teams were the Chicago Bears and Cubs. He enjoyed horse racing and wagering in general. Jim was married to his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Joyce A. (Henning) Furlong for 32 years, prior to her premature passing in 1996. He was a longtime member of the Third Ward Social Club in Aurora, IL. He was employed by Otis Elevator for 35 years, where he was a dedicated employee.

He is preceded in death by his father, Harold (Fuzz) Furlong, his mother, Evelyn Furlong, and his beloved wife, Joyce A. Furlong.

Jim is survived by his two children, Jamie (Michael) Torrance of Oswego, and Jeffery (Araceli) Furlong of Aurora; six grandchildren, Scott Furlong of Yorkville, IL, Kiley (Jeremy) Curtis of Sugar Grove, IL, Heather Furlong (Phil Feltes) of Aurora, Stephanie Torrance (Stevie Chmura) of Orland Park, IL, Michael Torrance, Jr. of Oswego, Angela Furlong of Aurora; his longtime companion, Ruby Thornton of Morrison.

His wishes were cremation without services.

His close family will celebrate his life.

The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is helping with arrangements.
