Larry “Jake” John Green, 66, of Fulton, IL, died, Saturday August 5, 2023, at Pleasant View Nursing & Rehabilitation in Morrison, IL.

Larry “Jake” John Green was born on October 22, 1956, in Clinton, IA, to John and Shirley May (Crandall) Green. Jake was raised on a farm in Morrison learning the value of family and hard work. He was a proud Union Grove Warrior, Fulton Steamer, die-hard Cardinal Fan, and big Dale Earnhardt Fan. Jake loved Football, Basketball, and Baseball in his youth. His next wave took him to Slow Pitch Softball, where he played and managed and prospered in many league championships; pitched a perfect game; cherished his teammates. Jake spent his career in farming, construction, long haul, deck and scale man at Bunge, Argi, and the Fulton Grain Elevator before retiring from BWC. He prided himself in being the man you could depend on to get it done.

Jake will miss his Sunday foursome at the Fulton Country Club. He was proud of his home and yard, requiring great assistance from Dale. Jake was famous for his “Man Cave,” with the regulars of Beek, Blaze, Gordie, Mark, Rick, Sid, Jeff, Tam, and too many more to mention; cold PBRs and good friends; the special place. Jake was a self-proclaimed master hog roaster and, many enjoyed the bounty.

Jake is survived by his siblings, Linda (Mike) Carney, Dale (Kathy) Green, Robert (Lynn) Green, and Gary (Ellen) Green. He leaves his cherished nieces and nephews, Shawn (Jennifer) Carney, Kelly (Jeff) Smith, Ryan (Megan) Carney, Michael (Sarah) Green, Miranda (Branden) Nimrick, Julie Paradis, James, Jacob, and Justin Green, Harry, Riley (Madison), and Spencer Green.

He also is survived by his mother’s brothers, Cliff (Sylvia) and George (Moonja) Crandall. Jake had a special bond with his step-father, James D. Howell, who preceded him in death.

A special prayer of gratitude to Sis, Dale, and the wonderful Caregivers at Pleasant View. God speed, Brother!
