Family Dollar is a business where clothing, food, and various merchandise can be purchased at cost-savings. Located at 414 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL, it has been in place over 30 years. Employees recently learned the franchise will close its doors on, or before, Tuesday, July 18, 2023.
On Friday afternoon, June 16, 2023, a female employee tied three, helium-filled balloons to a display cart in front of the entrance.
“It’s just so sad! There are a lot of mixed feelings. We were all surprised,” she stated. Customers tell us, “We really like this store.” One reason is that Family Dollar sells clothing items, unlike the Dollar General store, at 633 E. Lincolnway.
She continued, revenue is increasing. However, losses due to COVID-19 have not been able to be recouped. Plus the building required a new safe and freezer–both high-expense items.
On Sunday, June 18, weekly price reductions will begin, starting at 20% off. Tobacco products and gift cards will not be reduced.
From paper towels to socks and underwear, merchandise will be selling at ever-increasing discounts.
