Richard “Dick” Shepard, 75 of Rock Falls, IL, died Thursday, April 27, 2023, at his home.
Dick was born on January 18, 1948, in Morrison, IL, the son of Richard Louis and Marion (Weeks) Shepard. He married Lucille Stage in 1967 in Morrison. Dick worked for Sterling Commercial Roofing, retiring after 45 years. He enjoyed watching and racing cars and motorcycles, going to dirt bike races and being in the pit crew, doing yard work, and playing cards. He loved his dog, Chloe, hunting mushrooms, fishing, and sitting on his front porch drinking a glass of iced tea.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy; three children, Jerry Shepard, Sr. of Rock Falls, Brenda (Joe) Crawford of Rock Falls, and Ricky Shepard of Rock Falls; sisters, Janice Cady, Karen (Mike) Breaiton, and Diane (Jack) Peppers, all of Morrison; brother, Kent (Terrie) Shepard of Morrison; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many, many friends, especially his good friend, Kevin Froeter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Tyler Joe Crawford; granddaughter, Ashley Crawford; daughter-in-law, Nan Shepard.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Fall, IL.
Funeral Service will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the funeral home, with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating.
A luncheon will follow at the Cooler in Rock Falls, IL.
