What: Southside Elementary School will host a Scholastic Book Fair. Families, faculty, and the community are invited to attend this fun reading event, that helps inspire children to become lifelong readers. The Book Fair will feature a special event during our Open House night with refreshments on Tuesday, September 16, from 5:15 to 7:30 p.m. in the school library. Special guest and local author Walley Kilgus will read to Southside students from his book assortment beginning at 5:15. He will have his books available for purchase. He will sign books, pose for pictures, etc.
Why: Funds raised will help purchase books for classroom libraries. Reading is the most important skill parents can teach a child. Of all the skills children learn, it is the one parents can influence the most. Giving kids access to good books and the opportunity to choose books will motivate them to read. And like most acquired skills, the more kids practice reading, the better they’ll get!
When:
The Book Fair will be open daily from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., on Monday, September 15, through Thursday, September 18, 2014.

Southside Elementary School is located at 100 Academic Drive, Morrison, IL.
