Mary L. Bryant, age 87, of Sterling, IL, died Monday, April 3, 2023, at Allure of Sterling.
Mary was born September 2, 1935, in Magnolia, KY, the daughter of William, Sr. and Goldie (Pottinger) Stanfield. She was employed at Del Monte in Mendota, IL, and later at Larson Manufacturing, retiring in 1979. Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and gardening. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed her children and all of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Sue (James) Clayton of Lyndon, IL, Debra (Albert) Clayton of Rock Falls, IL, and Julie (Bruce Simpson) Batten of Milledgeville, IL; sister, Jean Kessler of Morrison, IL; brother, William Stanfield, Jr. of Rock Falls; 12 grandchildren, Angie (Brad) Jarman, Tanya (Tony) Jennings, James (Krissy) Clayton, Kati (Rene) Mora, Eric (Sarah) Bryant, Jeremy (Amy) Golden, Heather (Jason) Golden, Audra (Ryan) Zink, Zachary (Anna) Clayton, Brooke (Brandon) Clayton, Jessica (Ben) Batten McGrath, and Jeffrey (Kristina) Batten; 26 great-grandchildren with Baby Dax arriving in June; eight-great-great-grandchildren, with a baby girl arriving in June.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Kenneth Eugene Bryant and Micheal Wayne Bryant; daughter, Marcia Ann Bryant; one granddaughter, Maggie Shoptaugh.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at McDonald Funeral Home, 505 First Avenue, in Sterling, IL.
The Funeral will follow at 3:00 p.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Dr. Scott Porter of Abiding Word Church officiating.
Burial will conclude at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, IL
In honor of Mary’s love for the Cubs, you are encouraged to wear your favorite sports attire.
