dorothy vosDorothy M. Vos, 83, of Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison, IL, died Thursday, August 14, 2014, at the nursing home.

Dorothy was born July 27, 1931, in Morrison, to Donald G. and Kathryn (Rose) Zuidema. She was educated in the rural Green Valley Grade School and was a graduate of Morrison High School. She married Bernard “Barney” Vos on August 11, 1950, in Morrison. Dorothy was employed by General Electric Co. in Morrison and then was a homemaker while raising the children. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, traveling, and golfing. Dorothy got a hole-in-one on hole #5 at the Morrison Country Club. She also enjoyed playing card games, she played bridge and euchre. Dorothy loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Barney of Morrison; two daughters, Sherri (Kevin) Ross of Clinton, IA, Racel Vos of Stafford, TX; two sons, Robert Vos and Dennis Vos, both of Morrison; eight grandchildren, Linell (Daniel) Eaton, Nicole Zuidema, Janae Veselko, Monique (Ryan) Elmendorf, Shane Vos, Aaron Vos, Cassandra Vos, Kaylee Vos; seven great-grandchildren, Madeline, Charlie and Grace Eaton, Breanna Zuidema, Alyssa Veselko, Liam Elmendorf, Charlie Vos; one sister, Geraldine (Donald) Damhoff of Morrison.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert M. and Warren Zuidema.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

OFFICIATING:  Mr. Ken Renkes, Director of Congregational Care, Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL

VISITATION:  9:30 a.m. until the time of the service, Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT:  Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, or the Organization for Autism Research (OAR.)
