“We are still working on a formal announcement, but we are hosting a “community move-in” day for two Ukrainian families in our area, who are moving into long-term housing this Thursday[, December 8.] We are going to have community members bring any donated items to one or both of the homes, and we will help them set up the homes. They need everything…home goods, kitchen items, dressers, night stands, and furniture (except mattresses.) Other ideas are to stock the kitchen cabinet with basics (flour, sugar, salt/pepper/, spices etc.)

“Thursday, 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., Zakharchenko Family (family of four: mom dad, son age 12, daughter with special needs age 6) at 1316 8th Avenue, DeWitt, IA.

“Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Hedzhymanova Family (family of three: mom, dad, and daughter age 10) at 805 Smith Street, Grand Mound, IA.

“If you bring your items in person to either home, we would love to see you there! I believe WQAD Channel 8 will be there and our local paper.”
