The Monday, October 17, 2022, Board of Education meeting of the Morrison Unit #6 School District opened with positive reports from the Principals. Successful activities were offered and well attended, that ranged from a Career Fair at the High School to a Movie Night at Southside. The Technology Department informed the Board that the new camera will be ready for the Friday night football game, on October 21.
The following seven hires were listed in the Consent Agenda and approved.
Dioncio Olaide, Jr (volunteer Basketball Coach at MHS)
Evan Ernst (volunteer Basketball Coach at MHS)
Susan Mapes (Special Education Aide at MJHS)
Mary Schaefer (Trap Shooting Advisor at MHS)
Peyton Smith (Classroom Aide at Northside Elementary
Jaedan Workman (5th grade Boys Basketball Coach)
The LED light replacement project for all buildings was approved. The Board approved to spend a maximum of $275,271, with replacement bids to be presented at a future Board meeting.
The District Handbook was approved and job description definitions discussed, without action being taken.
The Sports Department received approval to purchase new uniforms for the Softball and Wrestling teams, at a cost of $5200.
Math teacher and Athletic Director Gregg Dolan announced his retirement, effective the end of the 2024-25 school year.
The next scheduled MCUSD #6 Board of Education meeting is at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, November 21, 2022, at the District Office on Knox Street.
