On Sunday afternoon, October 2, 2022, join the Morrison Historical Society Board of Trustees and your friends between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. for an ice cream social. Other refreshments include brownies, pies, cookies, coffee, and bottled water, all by donation only.
The event location is new: Annan Mill, along Rock Creek on W. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL. Park in the Super Wash, Inc. lot, and cross the Rock Creek bridge to the Mill. Bring a lawn chair for outdoor seating along Rock Creek, if the day is blessed with fine weather.
Visitors may tour the mill and the “Annex” at the rear.
In 2012, the late Kenny Venhuizen first brought his portable hit-‘n’-miss engine to Morrison’s Heritage Musuem’s Ice Cream Social. The engine churned oh-so-rich vanilla ice cream. Half the fun was hearing the sound it made. Venhuizen built it about 2005 and delighted ice cream fans for many yeas.
His assistant in the past often was Arlyn Vanzuiden, who will operate Kenny’s engine on October 2. Expect the same delicious taste, because recipe is the same. The last time Nancy and Kenneth Venhuizen made ice cream for the Historical Society was September 2018, during Paint the Town.
