Carlene Pruis (1936 – 2014)

carlene pruisCarlene Pruis, 78, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, June 23, 2014, at her home.

Carlene was born January 19, 1936, in Morrison, to Carl and Anna (Huizenga) Pruis. She was educated in the Delphi Grade School and was a 1953 graduate of Morrison High School. She then graduated from Central College in Pella, IA, and later attended University of Colorado in Denver, CO, receiving her Master’s Degree. Carlene never married. She worked at the Morrison Telephone Company in the summers while she was attending school. She then was employed at several different schools in Sterling, IL, in her lifetime. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church where she played the organ and piano. She also taught Sunday School, was a member of the Choir, and was a leader in the Stonecroft Bible Study. Carlene enjoyed traveling in her younger years.

Survivors include one sister, Ruth (John) Boender of Sheldon, IA; one sister-in-law, Phyllis (Willard) Huizenga of Morrison; ten nieces and nephews, John Pruis, Karl (Rose) Botkin, Mary Botkin, Jan Botkin, Dave (Vera) Boender, Andy (Susan) Boender, Ruth Ann Boender, Leanne (Bill) Boylan, Cindy Pruis, and Lynelle Gouger; many great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Kathy Bealer and Karen Price.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Analene Botkin; two brothers, James and Charles W. Pruis; one niece, Linda Pettinger; one nephew, William Pruis in infancy.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL

OFFICIATING:  Mr. Ken Renkes, Director of Congregational Care at Ebenezer Reformed Church

VISITATION:  4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT:  Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
