On Friday, July 29, 2022, at 6:25 a.m., Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to W. Lincolnway and Emerson Road, for a motorcycle vs. car crash with injuries. The initial crash investigation determined that Unit 2, driven by Diana DeGroot, age 75, of Rock Falls, IL, was westbound on W. Lincolnway and had slowed to turn into a business driveway on W. Lincolnway. Unit 1, driven by David Eichelberger, age 47, of Sterling, IL, was also westbound on W. Lincolnway at Emerson Road and failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision with DeGroot’s vehicle. Eichelberger was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. One party was transported by CGH Ambulance to CGH in Sterling for non-life-threatening injuries. Whiteside County Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Sterling Fire Department and CGH EMS.
