Margaret “Peggy” Joanne Grennan (1942 – 2022)

Margaret “Peggy” Joanne Grennan, 79 of Rock Falls, IL, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

Peggy was born on June 15, 1942, in Sterling, IL, the daughter of John and Margaret (Verstraete) Naughton, Sr. She graduated from Newman Central Catholic High School, the class of 1960. She married Eugene Joseph Grennan on August 4, 1962, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. Peggy was a loving, selfless, and faithful woman. She was a wonderful homemaker and dedicated her time to being a farm wife and raising her large family. She was full of energy and had an infectious laugh. Everyone that knew her loved her. Peggy was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, IL.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, Eugene; eight children, Shawn Grennan of Rock Falls, Carla Hilbert of Crystal Lake, IL, Michael (Gina) Grennan of Rock Falls, Jennifer (Ryan) Oetting of Morrison, IL, Amy Norton of San Diego, CA, Thomas (Heather) Grennan of Rock Falls, Sarah (Jason) Kamens of Gilbert, AZ, and Meg (Scott) Schultz of Austin, MN; daughters-in-law, Ann Grennan and Judy Szot; 22 grandchildren, Malorie, Kayla (Doug), Patrick, Bailey, Tommy, Rachel (John), Claudia, Hillary, Joanne, Caleb, Rhett, Paige, Katie, Oliver, Brady, Carson, Everett, Lucy, Blair, Tyler, Nives, and Hauke; three great grandchildren, Dougie, Mikey, and Emmett; sisters, Janet (Merlin) Johnson and Mary Ann Naughton, both of Centerville, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Paul Grennan and Daryl Grennan; grandsons, Brendan Grennan and Owen Oetting; brothers, John Naughton, Jr. and James Naughton; sister, Colleen Chandler.

Visitation was held on Friday, June 10, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The Rosary was recited at 3:30 p.m.

Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, IL, with Reverend Richard Russo, Celebrant officiating.

Burial followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in Harmon, IL.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrew’s Church and School, Newman High School, or Pine Crest- Terrace Unit in Mt. Morris, IL.
