The photos below of an exciting construction project were taken in Morrison, IL, on Sunday, March 23, and Sunday, June 8, 2014, respectively.  Windsor Manor Assisted Living Community–the newest residential option for senior citizens in the area–should be ready for occupancy in July.  However, the management could not wait to share the possibilities with the public.  They hosted a preview tour of the residential center on Saturday, June 7, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Turn north onto Scenic Drive from U. S. Highway 30 East; the address is 403 Scenic Drive, at the end of the quiet street.

“With over 225 visitors attending our Preview Tour, it is confirmation that there is a widespread need for quality assisted living and memory care in Whiteside County.  Windsor Manor is pleased to be able to serve our communities’ elderly population.  Yes, we will provide quality care, but we will also offer a lifestyle that our residents and families will appreciate,” stated Danielle Vance, Executive Director of Windsor Manor of Morrison, IL.

Inside the “horseshoe-shaped’ structure are 40 apartments, including ten designated for Memory Care residents.  Attractive landscaping and a gazebo will be created in the center courtyard for outside enjoyment.  There are several other spaces to gather outside one’s living area.  The dining room is open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  The beauty shop/barber shop will be contracted out; Jill Beswick of Morrison is the cosmetologist.  A fitness room, whirlpool room, and spa will add interest.  There is a central area with fireplace, cozy library, sun room, porch area, and an outdoor walking trial.  These amenities give a feeling of spacious living without the care involved.

There are three apartment options:  Deluxe, Basic, and Studio (for those with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.)  A couple come with two bedrooms, but all have a kitchen or kitchenette (no stove.)  Microwave ovens can be brought by residents.  The first two photos are from a deluxe apartment, and the next illustrates a basic apartment.  John and Edith Massey are shown in a kitchenette.
