Mary Ann Nelson, 88, of Sterling, IL, died peacefully on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Allure of Sterling.
Mary was born on August 25, 1933, in Sterling, the daughter of Walter and Mary (Kamm) Snyder. She graduated from Sterling High School, first class in the new building, in 1951. She married Herb Beveroth, Morrison, IL, on October 14, 1953. Mary and Herb had two children, Suzanne and Tim. The couple divorced in 1985. She married Victor Nelson on November 28, 1987. He predeceased her on February 10, 1997. Mary was employed as a bookkeeper at Amcore Bank of Sterling for 24 years. She was a member of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sterling. Mary was also a long-time member of the American Business Women Association. Mary loved spending time with family and friends, especially grandchildren. She loved decorating her home and having it reflect the joys and hobbies the family shared. She loved her flowers and being in the yard pulling weeds; cross stitching; reading.
Survivors include her son, Timothy (Pam) Beveroth of Sterling; daughter, Suzanne (Beveroth) Pollack of Marine on St.Croix, MN; stepson, Jeffrey Nelson of Marion, IA; stepdaughter, Victoria Hood of Morrison; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-step-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Victor; brothers Lyle and Walter Snyder.
Visitation was held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sterling, IL.
Funeral service followed at 10:00 a.m,, with Reverend Chad Bolosan officiating.
Burial was at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, IL.
