Morrison Community Unit School District #6 School Board of Directors convened in the District Office, without President Jim Ridley, on Monday, May 16, 2022. Members discussed and approved key issues, that effect the future of the District for the near future.

A plan to improve the District by the 2025-2026 school year was approved, with these goals and others.

• Increasing the percentage of students meeting or exceeding IAR ELS assessments from 30.3% to 67%.
• Improving SAT ELA assessment qualifiers from 33.4% to 66%.
• Students exceeding MAP assessments will increase from 45% to 65%.
• ELA and Math percentages of children in the Children with Disabilities subgroup will improve by ten percentage points.
• The District will make improvements to facilities to increase their aesthetic appeal.
• District facilities will ensure a healthy learning environment.

The MCUSD#6 Board of Directors agreed to return the grading scale at Southside to a standard, letter grading. It is believed that students are more motivated to earn a letter grade, versus a number. Parents have a better understanding of a letter grade, which assists their efforts to encourage their child to perform at a higher level. The letter grade will echo the grading scale currently being implemented at the Junior High and High School.

In other Action, the Board discussed the installation of a new bell and paging system in the High School. They authorized a go-forward plan, to ensure a summer completion, even though final approval cannot be given until the June Board meeting.

Personnel additions approved for the 2022-2023 school year included the hiring of Jenna Weets as Registrar at Morrison High School; Chelsea Eads as Varsity Volleyball Coach; Mark Ernst as Varsity Basketball Coach; Kristine Dobbs (Southside); Kelsey Pudlas (JH/HS Music); Tajia Robinson (Southside Counselor.)
